Erik-Jan Mares announces departure as CEO of Zeeman
After almost nine years as CEO of Zeeman, Erik-Jan Mares has indicated that he wants to hand over the helm. His last working day will take place in June.
The time at Zeeman has been one of the best periods in Erik-Jan's working life: "Zeeman is a company where everyone can be themselves and where the human dimension comes first. The contribution to society and the planet is just as important as revenue growth. People within Zeeman are genuinely interested and help each other selflessly. But after almost nine years, it's time for me to move on. I want to offer the organisation the space for new leadership, for the next phase. In addition, I look forward to learning something new elsewhere. Discovering new markets, sectors and dynamics has always been one of my biggest motivations."
In recent years, Mares has worked with the team, the shareholder and the Supervisory Board from Zeeman to build a long-term strategy that is on course, with room for entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices. This approach has further strengthened Zeeman as a solid family business, with a unique position in the market.
Rense Jonk, on behalf of the shareholder: "During his many years at Zeeman, Erik-Jan succeeded in attracting a wider audience to Zeeman. The strong focus on sustainability has been a major contributing factor. We are very grateful to Erik-Jan for this and thank him for his loyalty and tremendous energy over the past years."
Bert Roetert, on behalf of the Supervisory Board: "We look back on the collaboration with Erik-Jan with great appreciation. He has not only contributed to Zeeman's development, but also strengthened a culture in which people can be themselves and enjoy working together. His commitment and open leadership style have meant a lot to us and to the company. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career. Finally, we are pleased to announce that Zeeman has found a successor for Erik-Jan. We are finalizing the appointment and will report further on this shortly."
